This St Helens installation was all about keeping what the customer already liked.
They did not want to change their fireplace surround, but they wanted a modern electric fire with a four sided glass look, fitted neatly into the existing opening, plus a three sided back panel.
We removed the existing back panel with the fireplace left in place, then manufactured new limestone slips and fitted the iRange 560 Slimline. The job was completed and tidied up in one day by trusted independent engineers.
Before and during
BeforeDuring
What the customer wanted
1) Keep the existing fireplace surround
2) Fit a four sided electric fire into the existing opening
3) Upgrade the back panel and finish so the whole set looks purposeful, not like an add on
4) Get it completed in one day if possible
What we did
1) Removed the existing back panel carefully with the surround staying in position
2) Manufactured new limestone slips to create a clean, consistent finish around the opening
3) Supplied and fitted the iRange 560 Slimline electric fire
4) Made sure everything was clean, aligned and tidy before sign off
Why this approach works
When a customer wants to keep their existing fireplace, the finishing details matter just as much as the fire itself. Fresh slips and a properly fitted back panel can make the new fire look like it has always belonged in the room.
If you are considering something similar, a couple of clear photos of your current fireplace and the opening measurements are usually enough for us to explain what is realistic before you commit to anything.
